Gauntlet of the Stormcaller

Weapon

Very Rare Requires Attunement

The Gauntlet of the Stormcaller or also known as Stormfist is a magical gauntlet imbued with the powers of a hundred storms. It is said the crystal that channels the lighting was once the heart of the great lighting elemental Ralaz’zt but when he was defeated his power was channeled into the Stormfist.

You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, this bonus increases to +3 while in a storm.

Lighting Rod. When you or a creature within 30 feet of you takes lightning damage, you can use your reaction to have the gauntlet absorb the lightning. When you do so, you or the creature takes no lightning damage and the gauntlet stores the lightning within it. When you hit a creature with the gauntlet while having lightning stored in the gauntlet, you can choose to deal additional lightning damage to it equal to half the lightning damage you would have taken when you absorbed lightning. If the stored lightning is not used within 1 hour of absorbing it, the lightning is consumed by the gauntlet and you regain one Charge for every 10 lightning damage absorbed (to a minimum of 1). Once you have used this ability, you must finish a long rest before you can do so again.

Channel the Storm. The gauntlet has 9 Charges for the following properties. The gauntlet regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn. Strength is your spellcasting ability modifier when casting spells from the gauntlet. While wearing the gauntlet, you can use an action to cast one of the following spells from it:

  • 1 Charge: Thunderwave

  • 3 Charges: Call Lightning

  • 9 Charges: Chain Lightning

Additionally, when you take the attack action on your turn and you can make more than one attack, you can expend one Charge to replace one attack with the Shocking Grasp cantrip.
