Maneuvers
Cutting Jet - As a ranged weapon attack, you expel and harden the ferrofluids in a pinpoint 45 foot stream, dealing 4d8 AP IV damage to up to two targets in a line upon making a successful attack.
Ferrofluid Retrieval - Targets that have been struck by this weapon have ferrofluid applied to them, marking them. You can expend a charge as a Bonus Action to retrieve all expended ferrofluid, dealing 1d8 AP II Slashing damage to any targets between you and the marked targets. The marked targets themselves do not take damage from this maneuver. Once this maneuver has been used, all marks are removed. This also restores all missing uses of the Ferrofluid Canister.
Lance Cutter - When you make a successful melee attack, you can expend a charge and two uses of the Ferrofluid Canister and extend the Mag Lance's range to 30 feet, dealing 4d8 Piercing damage to all targets in a 30ft line, emanating from where you stand.
Special Maneuvers
Collapse Magfield - Targets that have been struck by this weapon have ferrofluid applied to them, marking them. You can expend a charge as an Attack action and pull two chosen targets towards one another, dealing falling damage for every 5 feet they moved if they collide with each other. The targets may be up to 30 feet apart from one another. Both targets must make a Strength saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Intelligence modifier or be pulled towards each other and knocked prone.
Guard Block - Spend your Reaction to place the industrial tool between you and an opponent's melee attack. Raise your evasion by your Proficiency Bonus. You may perform this maneuver before damage is rolled and applied to attempt to deflect the attack. If your opponent misses as a consequence of you spending your Reaction, you take no damage. If they succeed in striking you, you only take half damage. You may use this maneuver a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus per Long rest.
Wide Sweep - Attack up to three targets within 10 feet for 2d8 AP II Slashing damage. All targets after the first take the normal rolled damage, without your Ability Modifier added. You can perform this maneuver once per turn.
Properties
Armor Piercing III
Ferrofluid Weapon - This weapon utilizes hydraulic cutting methods to dismember targets. All of its ammunition can be retrieved after combat but it has a limited well of ferrofluid.
Heavy
Lockbreaker - This device can be used to destroy locking mechanisms.
Magnetizing - Targets struck by this weapon are Magnetized until the next successful attack made with this weapon. Attacks made with this weapon against Magnetized targets are with advantage.
Passive Recharging - On finishing a Long rest, this weapon regains all of its charges. On finishing a Short rest, this weapon regains 2 charges.
Reach - This weapon has maneuvers which increase the range of your melee attacks.
Salvage Tool
Special Properties
Maiming - This weapon has the potential to Maim the first target hit when rolling a critical success on an attack roll.
Handling: 2-Handed
Instead of accelerating a solid projectile with propellant or magnets, the FAWS, otherwise known as a Mag Lance utilizes a multi-stage acceleration system that delivers a stream of jet-black ferrofluids at high velocities in relatively short range. It creates a high density, high pressure stream of ferrofluids shaped by a magnetic projection field that functions like a hydraulic cutter. The magnetic forces generated by the weapon are strong enough to harden the ferrofluids into a lance sort of shape as the stream is pressurized. It is also capable of retrieving the ferrofluid after expulsion using a collection receptacle with a lower powered magnetic system. If a target is coated in the ferrofluids, it can rip the ferrofluids away with the receptacle. The device was originally conceived as a means of utilizing surface tension, electromagnetic forces, and fluid dynamics to assist with cutting in microgravities on spacewalks. It now finds use as both a cutting tool and as a weapon.
