Player's Handbook (2024) - Modified
9-level Conjuration
A churning storm cloud forms for the duration, centered on a point within range and spreading to a radius of 300 feet. A flying creature under the cloud (no more than 5,000 feet beneath the cloud) must make a Strength saving throw if it flies into the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there flying. On a failed save, the creature is knocked prone.
As a bonus action on each of your turns, you can choose a point under the cloud. A bolt of lightning flashes down from the cloud to that point. Each creature within 5 feet of that point must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 8d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
So long as you maintain concentration, the storm will produce different effects at the start of each of your turns. Those effects are detailed below, beginning with round 1 when you cast the spell.
Round Effects
| Round | Effect |
|---|---|
| 1 | Each creature under the cloud must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 thunder damage and becomes deafened for 1 minute. |
| 2 | Acidic rain falls. Each creature and object under the cloud takes 4d6 Acid damage. |
| 3 | You call six bolts of lightning from the cloud to strike six different creatures or objects beneath it. Each target makes a Dexterity saving throw, taking 10d6 Lightning damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. |
| 4 | Hailstones rain down. Each creature under the cloud takes 2d6 Bludgeoning damage. |
| 5-10 | Gusts and freezing rain assail the area under the cloud. Each creature there takes 1d6 Cold damage. Until the spell ends, the area is Difficult Terrain and Heavily Obscured, ranged attacks with weapons are impossible there, and strong wind blows through the area. A creature that is concentrating on a spell and starts its turn in the area must make a DC10 Constitution saving throw to maintain its concentration. Finally, gusts of strong wind (ranging from 20 to 50 miles per hour) automatically disperse fog, mists, and similar phenomena in the area whether mundane or magical. |
