Demimaera
LARGE MONSTROSITY CHAOTIC EVIL

When Demogorgon birthed chimeras into the material plane, demimaeras, also referred to as lesser chimeras, were also created. Lacking the draconic head and leathery wings of true chimeras, demimaeras instead have an alternate third head - a snake head on the end of their tail.

A demimaera’s personality, like the typical chimera, is shaped by the worst aspects of its three parts. It has the same leonine territoriality and goat-like stubbornness, but it lacks the draconic greediness of typical chimeras that lead them to seek out hoards of gold and jewels. Instead, its snake head gives it a vengeful, vindictive streak that causes it to go to great lengths to kill those that it believes have wronged it. Creatures that steal a demimaera’s food or manage to wound it and escape are tracked down and brought to a grisly end.

Traits

Charge. If the Demimaera moves at least 20 feet straight towards a creature and then hits it with a horns attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the Demimaera can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.

Actions

Multiattack. The Demimaera makes three attacks: one with its bite, one with its horns, and one with its snake tail. When its fire breath is available, it can use the breath in place of its bite and horns.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10+3) piercing damage.

Horns. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8+3) bludgeoning damage.

Snake Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4+3) piercing damage and if the target is a creature it must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw, taking 7 ( 2d6 ) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.

Fire Breath (Recharge 5-6). The lion's head exhales fire in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 22 (5d8) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.
