    Flaws
    [Backstory]

"I grew up in Atlas to a well off enough family- we werent rolling in the dough like nobles, but poverty wasn't even on the radar. You see, the Gaillards come from a long line of bankers, accountants, and really anything to do with managing and handling money. Of course, my older brother and I were to follow suit. My brother, being in a league of his own exceeded, expectations: bumped the Gaillard name up the social hierarchy a couple rungs.

"Do well in school, get a good job, do good work, and you'll never want for anything. You'll be happy." my Pops always said. It worked for my brother, it worked for him, his father, his father's father, and all the gaillards before them - so it'd work for me right?

Well, I did what I was supposed to: got good marks in school, got into a good apprenticeship, and partnered with a reputable accounting firm.

I did what a Gaillard was supposed to do and should've been happy, but was I?

    No

My boss was a self-serving, power-tripping prick, my co-workers were gossiping snobs, and my folks would never shut up about my older brothers ever growing stack of accomplishments. To be clear, I don't hate my brother or him being gifted- I hate that he's the bar I'm supposed to be constantly measured against.

This is bullshit: Where was that happy and fufilling life that my dad promised?[

Only time I ever even got a taste of that was when I'd read about the various exploits of adventurers and imagined myself in them.

"Adventurers are fools" My folks always told me. "Reckless idiots who drop like fllies for a brief dream of glory and fortune".

I'dve given anything to be a "reckless idiot" like them. They seem happy and free to do as they please, but an average guy like me who's only skill is finding tax loopholes and managing money? Only in my dreams could I be one.

At least thats what I thought, until my powers showed up. Got into a heated argument with my boss and when I pointed at him a sort've lightning shot out of my hands, whizzed right over his head, singeing his wig right along with making a decent sized hole through several cubicle walls.

Shock.Confusion.Fear.and Excitement all hit me at once, and it drowned out all sound. My mind was racing: "Is this happening? Is this real? Did I do that?, Can I do that again?"

Right then and there it hit me: The world was giving me a sign, and I sure as hell wasn't going to ignore it.

I packed a bag, said my goodbyes to my teary mother and my furious father who both shouted and pleaded me not to go, to not throw away everything and disgrace the Gaillard name.

My name's Tony Gaillard, and I'm going to find my happiness in my own way"
