Crafted by the Thaenwrights, a Starshard Arm is a compact firearm powered by a fallen Aether Crystal. The weapon channels the crystal’s celestial energy through a focusing chamber, firing concentrated aetheric bolts. Each Starshard Arm is unique and cannot be reproduced by traditional means.


The Starshard Arm contains an embedded Aether Crystal with 6 charges. It regains all expended charges after a short rest spent out of combat, or you may use an action and a bonus action to restore 3 expended charges during combat.


When you make an attack with this weapon, choose radiant, force, or aetheric damage (chosen when the weapon is created).


Range 60/180 ft. Reload You must use a bonus action to cycle the weapon between shots.




Aether Flare


When you hit a creature with this weapon, as your bonus action, you can expend 1 additional charge to overdraw the crystal and unleash a flare of unstable energy. The attack deals an extra 1d6 damage, and the target glows with bright light in a 10-foot radius until the start of your next turn.
If you use this feature, roll a d20. On a 1, the crystal fractures, and the weapon becomes unusable until repaired.




Crystal Heat


If all 6 charges are expended, the crystal overheats and cannot be used again until it cools. Cooling requires a short rest outside of combat, or in combat you must spend a full turn using both your action and bonus action to stabilize the crystal. You may continue firing while it is overheated, but each shot you make deals 1d4 fire or force damage to you (your choice).




Stabilize


If you hit a creature with this weapon twice on your turn, you gain a +1 bonus to the next attack roll you make with it before the end of your next turn.




Attunement


To attune to the Starshard Arm, you must spend 1 hour focusing on the embedded Aether Crystal, allowing its magic to harmonize with your aura. Only an attuned creature can use the weapon; for all others, it remains inert or dangerously unstable.
