Story

Clad in what appears to be a tiny evening gown made from a single iridescent snakeskin and small enough to stand in a man's palm, Calyptra is a runt of her species, which is usually the size of a small dog and far more insectile. Something went wrong with her metamorphosis, as she sports an extra pair of near-useless limbs, and rather than the chitin other Calpina sport, she instead has fluffy down sprouting from her limbs and neck, with her wings resemble a moth's more than the typical dragonfly-like aesthetic. Her skin is mostly soft flesh, in comparison to the rigid exoskeleton her ilk normally possess, but she also has a minor ability to alter her shape into something more combat-capable - though that form's gaping, razor-lined maw is a horrifying sight to behold for most, so she prefers to avoid using that shape.

Considered a loner amongst her people, Calyptra never felt that common drive to reproduce the gruesome way her kin do, and so she set out for more civilized parts of Golarion, using an almost-supernatural sense of empathy to befriend those who could look past the sickly-sweet miasma that surrounds her.

Additionally complicating her social life is her parasitoid nature - she literally feeds off of an entity's ego, draining their will in order to survive. As if this wasn't harmful enough, the only way she can absorb said ego is through a bite, which can easily inflict grievous harm on a person if she's not careful with her mouthfull of razor-sharp fangs.

She speaks with a considerable impediment, the aforementioned razor-sharp fangs making mouth movements difficult for the majority of mortal languages as her own tongue is made out of the same kind of flesh she can easily bite through.

Calyptra also travels with a host of companions - each an animated plant that she can technically feed off of, though she prefers not to, likening the difference between plant-derived ego and mortal ego to the difference between hardtack and a loaf of bread.

Allies, Companions & Retinue

Griaule: Some sort of dragon-shaped plant, Griaule appears at a glance to be a relatively small hedge or tree grown in the shape of a dragon. Though it definitely appears to be a counterfeit creature, it still possesses a portion of the abilities that a dragon does, covered in thorny scales with an explosive breath attack that launches a spray of acid from its 'mouth'.

Lianne: Another plant creature that accompanies Calyptra, Lianne appears to be a willow tree that had grown into the shape of a voluptuous woman, using the whiplike branches that make up her 'hair' as a weapon when pushed into combat.

Iden: More insidious than the others, Iden is the the most talkative of the bunch, though its 'voice' tends to creep people out. Consisting of an amorphous tangle of creeping ivy, Iden tends to simply engulf enemies and strangle them inside its mass while whispering nonsense in a voice like rustling leaves.
