Description: Clutching vines covered in sharp thorns erupt from the ground and constrict a single target within range, which makes a Strength saving throw. On a failure, the target takes 4d4 damage, and, if it is Large or smaller, becomes restrained by the vines. The target may free itself by using an action to carefully move the vines, or by using half its movement speed to rip itself free. If it frees itself in this way, it takes an additional 2d4 damage. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage and is not restrained.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, both the initial damage and damage taken from ripping free of the vines increase by 1d4 for each slot level above 1st.
