Xetri Wings
Many Xetri believe that when they accomplish their Primary Pursuit, that that is the trigger for gaining their wings. Others, however, insist it is a matter of biology and hormones. Regardless of the cause, a Xetri gaining their wings is a reason for celebration, a point of pride, and something which propels that Xetri to a more respected position in their society. For hundreds of years, the snake-folk have evolved a tradition and ceremony surrounding this momentous occasion which is much like a second birth in the eyes of the Xetri.
The Discovery
As many Xetri achieve their goals of their Primary Pursuit, they tend to record their discoveries and gather artifacts. So it has become a tradition for the Xetri who has gained their wings to exhibit these findings with the Temple of Ink. In the Grand Library, the Xetri will gather excitedly to witness the winged one's presentation. These presentations can often take several hours as Xetri are easily carried away when talking about their chosen subject. After the presentation follows the questions and answers period. The peers, mentors, family, and rivals of the Xetri will bombard the winged one with all manor of questions about their Primary Pursuit and their results. This part of the event can also take some time, as Xetri throuroughly enjoy exploring every possible angle of a subject. This is also the time for the winged one to bask in the admiration of their peers.A New Name
When a Xetri is born, they are given a name by their parents. Often this name will be based on the child's color, patterns, or a particular trait the parents wish for the child to embody. When the Xetri matures out of the hatchling stage and adopts their new Primary Pursuit they will often, but not always, choose a new name which better describes their interests or personality. When a Xetri gains their wings, a major part of the ceremony is the choosing of their final name. This name can be nearly anything though many Xetri choose a poetic representation of their discovery or a reference to some obscure place or person they learned of in their travels.
