Unlike most dire wolves, the Steelgray has been domesticated by the dwarven people and used often as riding mounts, guards and companions.[/in]

[in]In terms of size, shape and weight, the Steelgray – or Northiron Dire Wolf – is similar to a normal dire wolf. The Steelgray breed has developed to a slightly larger size, with an adult being a little larger than a pony. However, due to the mountainous environment, a Steelgray is a superior climber than a wolf or a normal dire wolf. Unfortunately, this enhanced ability to climb comes at the expense of the breed’s ability to run. The average wolf or dire wolf is slightly faster at running.[/in]

[in]The Steelgray gets its name from the fur coloring, which ranges from a white-silver to a mottled steel gray color. Remarkably intelligent, Steelgrays are able to learn extremely complex commands, which is why they are highly prized as guards.[/in]

[in]An adult Steelgray dire wolf tends towards 9 feet long and can weigh up to 850 pounds.[/in]
