Dark Mode for Manuscript

Dark-Mode-for-Manuscript Keep-my-eyes-pls Night-Owls-screech-together!
1. What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?   As much as I like the feeling of a thousand pink suns burning my corneas into white cloudy ash as I write through the middle of the night, I believe almost anyone who uses the Manuscript would like to switch between the light mode and dark mode.   2. How does this feature request address the current situation?   I believe that this would help with eye strain especially if you write in the Manuscript everyday (or night) like I do.   3. What are other uses for this feature request?   Just the pleasure of keeping my eyes in my skull for one.     Thank you for reading my suggestion and I hope that y'all agree.

The Team's Response

Hello there writing beans!
  • The interface can be changed into dark mode from the top right in most cases or your Interface Settings
  • If you wish to change the colours of your EDITOR you can also do that from the settings of your manuscript

I have to say that all my manuscripts seem to be in dark mode, if WA is in dark mode. The only thing you have to do manually is changing the background of your manuscript.   This can be found at the main page of your manuscript in edit mode > Document Settings > Background Color   So I would mark this as existent. If you need any help with the settings shoot me a message here or on Discord, same name.

Yes please - I've tried using extensions like Dark Reader but they don't play well with the editor.

I use dark mode almost exclusively on world anvil as I tend to work here in the evenings. Extending this feature to the manuscript would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

While amelianite is correct, it can already be done in the default interface settings, it would still be more convenient if it would inherit the theme background & font colour unless otherwise specified.

Love it and totally agree. Sometimes that the only time I have to work on my manuscript and even with a fully dimmed screen I still blind myself enough to where I give up trying to work on whatever scene is in my head.

Gonna echo the previous comment here: this feature already exists. Just use the color changers in the manuscript settings, they are specifically meant for this purpose.

If you are using one of "dark mode" editing themes for WA, all you have to do to get manuscripts to appear in dark mode is change the "Default Interface Settings" on the right side of the "Manuscript Basic Settings." You can change the background color and the font color to be set as a darker color.
