What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The new pop-up style menu for viewing historical events is great for quick reference, but for users like myself who heavily use timelines and therefore end up with huge numbers of historic events, the new menu is unfortunately lacking in functionality. Specifically, the fact that the new menu doesn't show the date or the timelines on which an event appears the way the previously UI did is a huge loss of functionality. I love how quick and easy the new UI makes it to create historic events, but that speed also means that it's very easy to forget to ammend what timelines an event appears on, and since the changes to the Events menu, there is now no way to quickly check what timelines an event has been added to without going into each event indivudually, either within the timeline view or from the new events menu. I recognise that many users, especially those who don't heavily use timelines, will prefer the speed of use in the new events menu, and I am not asking for it to be removed. I am instead requesting that a button be added to the new events menu which links to the old-style table, so that those users who want more in-depth information can access it without overloading information for those who prefer the new-style menu.How does this feature request address the current situation?
Adding the old-style events view as an optional additional page would restore lost functionality without impacting usability for any members who prefer the new UI. It would also hopefully be a relatively easy addition, since it doesn't require any new data to be stored, and the code for the old style of menu was already written previously.What are other uses for this feature request?
None - this would impact the events menu only.The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! The old interface will not come back, but we're accepting this because we understand the need of wanting to have more details at a glance. So we will at some point add an advanced view of the Events list that's more in line with the new UI and will include additional data.
