dashboard pop-up
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently, there is a pop-up that appears each day the first time I log in and open the Dashboard that has to be interacted with. I understand the purpose of this is to draw attention to features, but the fact that it is this intrusive has made it a bit annoying for my workflow.
I would like to propose a couple alternate ways to have this feature incorporated in the site that is less intrusive.
1. A Toggle On/Off In Settings: Much like how we have the animations toggle, I would like a way to turn these pop-ups off entirely.
2. Add Them As A Field On the Dashboard: Having them as another section of the Dashboard, without forced interaction via a pop-up, would simplify the workflow and require fewer clicks. It could also be a part of the Dashboard customization where we can remove entirely.
I guess the long and the short of it is I want a way to turn the pop-up off if I want, and the above ideas are ways I think it can be achieved for the people who don't want/need it every single day.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
It opens the doors for users to choose how they want to interact with reminders about features, granting more customization and freedom. It could even be limited to paying Guild members if needed. But the idea is to minimize the daily annoyance that the pop-up has become for people who log into World Anvil every day.
What are other uses for this feature request?
None really beyond user satisfaction, I guess?
Follow up
Maybe it's just me, but the pop-ups have stopped for a few days. Maybe that means there were a finite number, maybe it means something changed - if the former, still worth looking into the suggestion above. If the latter, thanks WA team!
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! In its current behavior, the quick tips appear every day until you've seen all of them, then they don't appear again. We have decided to not change this behavior.
