The current UI does nothing but alienate WA's oldest and most active users. If they want it to act as a way to attract new users, that's fine, but it shouldn't come at the cost of UX for those of us who have literally given hundreds if not 1000+ dollars to this site since its launch. It NEEDS to be made opt-in for us.
i would give so much more coins if i could. i adored world anvil a year ago. recommended it to many writer friends becuase of the ease of use and how the articles where set up and and the suggestions in each category really helped make the world feel more lived in. i cant navigate this new interface to save my life. let those of us who paid for the old version keep the old version please!
I would give all my coins toward this if I could. I gave the new system a reasonable try, but the old system is better in every way. I feel like I'm held hostage because I have too much work saved her to move to another system.
I gave the new editor an honest try, but seeing the overall direction the changes on WA are heading in, I cannot imagine continuing paying for a service I cannot use. I have been a paying member for a very long time, as I have believed in the vision and loved growing here as a creator. If the old editor is permanently gone, I don't know what I will do. I know the team is doing their best so I sincerely hope there will be a space for an alternative solution.
I don't HATE the new editor and I haven't had a lot of technical problems with it (lucky me?), but I really prefer the old one. Throwing my vote in here to support those who seem to be unable to use the new one at all. I think keeping the old one as a permanent alternative (with the option to set it as a default) would make the most sense all around.
What I said in the "toggle the old UI as default" suggestion applies here, too. I strongly prefer the old editor and almost every Anvilite I associate with does too. Please let us keep it. Thank you <3
I'm not here to gripe. I just like the old editor and would like to make sure it doesnt go anywhere :)
I also voted for allowing the old editor to be defaulted. As of right now the new editor leaves so much to be desired. I don't see a future where I can make my worlds and my characters if the old editor is removed. If the old editor is removed, I might as well create a big google docs folder again.
Please do not remove the old editor. I would be lost without it.
Looking thru Chrispy0's breakdown of everything it's very jarring that Chrispy had to use CUSTOM CSS just to make the "new" UI REMOTELY useable. Devs need to acknowledge there is no polishing the turd that Athena turned into.
Just logged back into WA after taking a small break, only to see the new editor is now the default. I appreciate the desire to innovate, but why is the new editor being pushed this hard when it's clearly not finished or optimized yet? Yes, you can still access the old editor, but you have to go down to the triple dots and click that preference EVERY single time you want to edit something. There is no option to make the old editor the default, at least until the new editor is actually finished. Again, I'm all for innovation and improvements to the website, but only if those improvements and changes are actually good. Example: Why is it an "improvement" that I now need to manually turn on every single prompt, or else they just don't show up at all? Why is it an "improvement" that a little icon is forcibly added to article titles that I have to delete every single time I jump back into the editor if I don't want that icon there? For those wondering why I don't just use the new editor for small edits, it's because of that crazy icon that gets added to the titles now. I either have to click to delete that icon every single time, or I have to click into the old editor to make it go away that way. Either way, it's multiple clicks for what used to be just a simple hop in hop out system. Also, the new editor lacks functionality that the old editor had in certain instances. Manually turning on every single prompt in order to see it is just not working for me. Easier to just switch to the old editor at that point.
New edittor looks slick, but lacks functionalities of the old edittor, lags and crashes regularly even on a brand new machine and high speed internet connnection, and is just harder to navigate/unintuitive for many users. Maining the old edittor as is seems like a no-brainer.
I want to love the new editor but it lags so badly for me. I work on a macbook pro with a fast internet connection, there is no reason for it to lag like this. Nothing else on the site does that for me. Until that is fixed, I'd like the old editor to stay just so I can work.
THe UI changes are killing me. I am spending my creative time figuring out new ways of doing things instead of working. The old way was fine. The changes are not good.
Not sure about no support, but I've been unable to switch to the new one, so I would like a solution for the long term.
The new editor looks nice but unfortunately lags out my almost decade-old laptop which I use for writing on the go. Trying to send an article update through the Discord webhook feature also doesn't work the way it used to on the new editor, as whenever I try to add a message to the update alert, it doesn't go through on the new editor but does on the old editor.
The new editor is clunky, lagging, and poorly optimized. I've tried to use it but my work keeps getting deleted. The old editor is much better for me, and while some people may enjoy the new editor, I would much rather keep the old one. I wish I could just seemlessly operate in the old one as I used too.
Even making the old editer require a members subscription would be better than it permanently going away. The new one just outright lacks certain features the old one has, and some of those features are quite important to being able to customize an article.
