categories settings multiple-articles privacy subscriber&039;s-group inheritage-settings article-templates synchronized-settings
General information: subreddit for discussion or clarification added! :) I'd be glad to talk to you about it!
This request comes in two parts, but since they are related to each other and it's only possible to have one suggestion at a time, I just set them together.
1.
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
When adding a
new article to a category, it's already really good, that the article template stays the same when creating a bunch of articles in a row.
BUT: when I have, for example, a
category for vehicles, which should
only be visible for a specific subscriber's group set to
private, I have to add those setting to
every article by myself.
You
CAN set a subscriber's group for a
specific category, yes. BUT, this
doesn't mean, that the
articles in it have the same properties.
So when I create an article "super secret new batmobile" inside, people can still access it via links etc, because it's not restricted.
2.
When changing settings or moving articles, you have to do it one by one. Please, I'd love to handle more than one article at once! *cries in touchpad*
It's extremely time consuming to handle every single article for moving, settings, yadda yadda yadda.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
My suggestion would make it easier, maybe with a few clicks, to set some standards inside the category.
So, let's stick to the example above:
-> When creating the category, I can set standards for it like:
- all articles inside here have the template articles (except I say otherwise)
- all articles inside here have the property 'private' (except I say otherwise)
- all articles inside here have the subscriber's group "vehicle fanatics" set (except I say otherwise)
-> OR in case of the privatestatus and subscriber's group:
- add a checkbox that says "inherit private settings to subcategories (except I say otherwise)
- add a checkbox that says "inherit private settings to articles in this category (except I say otherwise)
- add a checkbox that says "inherit subscriber's groups to subcategories (except I say otherwise)
- add a checkbox that says "inherit subscriber's groups to articles in this category (except I say otherwise)
-> When moving an article into a category, ask if the settings shall be synchronized with the upper category or set this globally, so you don't get a prompt every single time.
2.
Adding checkboxes in front of the articles, a "select all"-button and an "apply to all"-Button would be absolutely lovely!
What are other uses for this feature request?
It's a
safety net for the privacy of articles and the right forms.
For me as a gamemaster, I have to go through every single article and set the settings. Also, we all know the problem, when we forget to set the right article template, we have to do it anew, since the template change is not yet available (I'm SO looking forward to that feature!)
