What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
There is a carousel, but it does not provide an overview. I would like to be able to insert a gallery-tag with the number of images per row from a certain gallery. Like gallery: xxxx|width 3|name
There should also be the option to display the name and/or description, or nothing, under the image.
Maybe it could even be possible to use the tags in a gallery to filter the images to display?
How does this feature request address the current situation?
I have coats of arms / crests for all my countries. I want an overview page of all coats of arms, and I am a huge fan of automated updates, meaning I want to have everything in a gallery in a grid on a page without me having to update specific pages every time a coat of arms is added or removed.
What are other uses for this feature request?
I also have situations where I have people from a group, citizens in a town, and so on. It would be very nice if I could have them displayed with their portraits in such a widget.
Sub-request/technical consideration
It would be nice to reach the article from there, but then comes the dilemma of using a gallery or a list of articles as the base. Naturally, it only works on articles with this type of image, like countries and people, and you might want to display a gallery with images other than those.It would be nice to be able to use those images more as visual landmarks, though. Thank you for your fantastic site.

Thanks for your suggestion! We think it's a really interesting ideas but there's currently not enough community interest to implement it. So we're closing it, but feel free to suggest it again in the future if you think it will gather more interest.

on 2024-08-06 09:20I like this suggestion - Maybe the technical consideration you mentioned can be achieved with the already existing "Image URL" - This is how I currently do it for my carousels: I put the relevant article URL into that field (reached by clicking "advanced edit" on images).
