Having map pin not pin

maps pins realistic

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

With the current map pins, my olds very ancient-looking maps looks like Google Maps when I want to use the really interesting map tool of World Anvil. It is because pins do not looks very medieval, or fantastic (or if it could... it is not my case).

How does this feature request address the current situation?

They are a lot of very good-looking symbols on the pins : citys, churchs, circles, event brothels ! But the only way we can use it is on pins ! I would like those symbools to exist just on a circle. Yes, they are already a lot of "flat" symbols. They are great. But they do not include all of the symbols. I understand that you could not want to make two drawings for every single symbol ; but if we just turn a pin in a circle (with the pin's drawing inside), we would have much less "Oh. I see. I think I will stay with my untouched map (she is way more authentic)".

What are other uses for this feature request?

Even pin-lovers could use variations of their symbols, maybe for giving different meanings ?
*Excuse my english, I am french

The Team's Response

If for some reason the pins currently available are not proper for your project, you can always create custom map pins that will be via the Studio or by using HTML markers. Expanding the pins collection is something we do over time but the above suggestion does not signify what these pins should be,

Custom pins exist as a Grandmaster+ feature, I think.   I will still upvote this, because having a wider array of pins available to all subscribers would be great. Not everyone can make neat pins for themselves (myself included). Looking for medieval pins on Google and using them can be troublesome in regards to copyright and commissioning pins from an artist just for usage on WA is maybe going a bit too far for most people.

This exists as a Grandmaster+ feature to upload your own icons. That said, more icons are always nice and I don't like down-voting things.

You can already do it via "Add a special HTML Marker", however those do not contain the WA icons, only FontAwesome and RPGAwesome. I'd support a WA icon library, but I think I have deviated a bit too much from the original request, so I'll just put a tentative 10 on this one.
