| Special Abilities | True Seeing (arcane) The dragon has the permanent, continuous ability to see things as they actually are. This functions as if the spell truesight, but with the following modifications: The dragon sees through normal and magical darkness, notices secret doors hidden by magic (those hidden by mundane means remain obscured), sees the exact locations of creatures or objects under blur or displacement effects, and sees invisible creatures or objects normally. Seeing through illusions, transmutations, and polymorphs behaves as the spell truesight: The GM rolls a secret counteract check against any illusion, morph, or polymorph effect in the area, but only for the purpose of determining whether the dragon sees through it (for instance, if the check succeeds against a polymorph spell, the dragon can see the creature's true form, but this doesn't end the polymorph spell). The dragon can focus its vision to see into the Ethereal Plane (but not into other extradimensional spaces or demiplanes). This ability does not penetrate solid objects. It in no way confers x-ray vision or its equivalent. It does not negate concealment or cover, including that caused by fog and other such mundane effects. This ability does not help the dragon see through mundane disguises, spot creatures who are simply hiding, or notice secret doors hidden by mundane means. In addition, this ability's effects cannot be further enhanced with known magic, so the dragon cannot use this ability through a crystal ball (or related magic items) or in conjunction with spells/effects/powers like clairaudience/clairvoyance. This ability replaces the Darkvision normally associated with dragons. The range of this ability is the same as with normal draconic sight. This ability works equally against both magical and psionic effects and abilities. Snake Form (one action) (arcane, concentrate, polymorph, transmutation) A deep dragon can assume its serpentine (legless) form four times per day. This form is the same size as the dragon, but able to move through smaller tunnels because it has no legs. The dragon's AC worsens by -6 in this form. It moves at 40 feet, flies at 20 feet, and swims at 40 feet. It loses all claw Strikes in this form, but gains use of its Constrict ability. This ability does not have a limited duration. Humanoid Form (one action) (arcane, concentrate, polymorph, transmutation) A deep dragon can change into a humanoid form four times per day. It can alter the size, shape, hue, and features of its bipedal form to resemble a human, elf (surface or drow), half-elf, half-orc, orc, hobgoblin, dwarf, duergar, or any similar creature of Medium size. If the dragon wears armour to improve its AC in this form, the armour is destroyed when the dragon changes shape (unless first removed). Frightful Presence (aura, emotion, fear, mental) 90 feet, DC 39 Twisting Tail (reaction) (Trigger) When a creature within reach of the deep dragon's tail uses a move action, or leaves a square during a move action it's using, the dragon makes a tail Strike at the creature with a -2 penalty. If it hits, the dragon disrupts the triggering action. Breath Weapon (two actions) (arcane, acid, evocation) The dragon breathes a cloud of flesh-corrosive gas that deals 20d6 acid damage in a 50-foot cone (DC 42 basic Reflex save). Inorganic matter is unaffected, but any organic matter must be in a sealed environment to have full protection. The dragon can't use Breath Weapon again for 1d4 rounds. Draconic Frenzy (two actions) The dragon makes two claw Strikes and one horns Strike in any order. Draconic Momentum The dragon recharges its Breath Weapon whenever it scores a critical hit with a Strike. Constrict (reaction) When grappling or restraining a creature, while in serpentine form, the deep dragon can deal 3d10+17 bludgeoning damage. Each affected creature can attempt a basic Fortitude save at DC 42. |
