Description | This symbol, a perfectly symmetrical 8 pointed start, the points extending 1 foot from the center, the center circle of which shall be exactly 7 and 1/2 inches in diameter, is a powerful linguistic tool, universally recognized by the primordial energies. One can extend the points to exactly 18 inches in distance to utilize a longer lasting version, allowing one to connect their elemental step spell-weave with but disciplined and strong memory, directly to such a point so long as the symbol remains intact and active. Spell-Weave DC: 14 There is nothing truly basic about this spell-form, however worth noting immediately is its uniqueness in the way it exists. Though requiring no actual effort directly to maintain, a magister can only have up to three Elemental Symbols active at any given time. Should they attempt to create another one, the eldest of the ones they previously created goes inert, their connection to it being severed. This spell-form has two modes. The first, which only takes a 1 minute for a Magister to weave, is a mere ward/trap. If touched, stepped on, passed adjacent too, or otherwise directly interacted with, the Magister will have an immediate flash in their mind, like a sunburst, and briefly feel as if their brains were rattled in their skull. There will be some sort of audible response, but one only the magister can hear. The symbol itself, if activated in this mode, flairs to life briefly, and has any one of the following effects, each based upon the Order of the magister whom placed the symbol. Each Order, based on the manna they manipulate, has a unique symbol.
The second mode, the one that takes 1 hour to cast is meant to not be a triggered defense, but is instead woven as a recall focus, to etch and mark a location. These allow a Magister to utilize Elemental Step in places they perhaps normally couldn't for a full year or until the Symbol is removed. Tier -1: Spell fails, Minor Miscast Tier 0: Spell fails. Tier II: A magister may have up to 5 of them active at once. The trap symbols now do 4d6 . Spell-Stitch/Spell-Weave DC becomes 19 to flat cast Tier III: A magister may have up to 7 of them active at once. The trap symbols now do 6d6 . Spell-Stitch/Spell-Weave DC becomes 24 to flat cast NOTE: Though Shamans and the like can cast Elemental Step, they cannot work this spell-form simply because they do not have the focused discipline necessary and the random and chaotic nature of their magick does not work with this spell's structure in particular. |
